Hi-ya,

OK...

Well watched Dances With Wolves for my dissertation. Found it to be fairly enjoyable, but find the end to be somewhat melancholic. It is the way it happened though and you can't brush over the bad bits of history.

The past is a a little grim it seems.

In other news, to a check of my Monster can total at it is currently at 47. However, for the volume I was hoping to achieve I require a further 273!

Oh well, better crack on I suppose...

Hello,

Have a couple of things to mention.

First off, went through to Edinburgh to view the MArtin Creed exhibition in the Fruitmarket Gallery. Found that to be most inspiring in a stepped sort of way (if you've seen it, then you'll know how crap that joke is).

Second, my quest to complete my dissertation continues with watching Broken Arrow (1950). As I side note I've started listing the year after most films now. It is required watching as it was the first western to show the nobility in Native Americans. This is crucial for its similarities with Dances With Wolves (and ultimately Avatar). It also came to me that the Tom Cruise film The Last Samurai shares the same primary story idea.

This certainly is a popular story 'trope'.

Any, that be all for the time being, ciao for now

Sup,

So, watched Chinatown yesterday afternoon, simply because I was given a Robert Towne essay as part of my suggested reading, only to find out that it was specifically about Chinatown (which I hadn't seen). So I watched the film and read the essay. Not sure if I'll use it as part of my dissertation, but it was informative non the less.

Anyway, in the evening went to see Inception, which is evidence that you can have a special effects movie that has intelligent writing. The good performances hepled as well.

...and today I watched The Seventh Seal, the Ingmar Bergman classic. I must say it is not as bleak or heavy as I thought it would be and considering the subject (holding on to life to discover it's meaning, whilst at the sametime being persude by Death) it has some fairly comical moments.

That's all for now folks...

Hey,

This is a short one...

Had an interesting and productive chat about my dissertation, without having a signal argument

Hoo-rah

That is all

Howdy Doody,

So, Tuesday went well down at Pittenweem, invigilating the exhibition.

A number of interesting works there.

May have to return to collect the print on Sunday, unless it sells.

Actually started some work on my dissertation, though not a lot, it is a least a start. Need to get off my arse on that one...

The monster can collecting is going slow, but have added to it this past week, I need to gather them and perform a census to establish the exact total so far. Although I feel many would criticise it as being a waste of time, I have made the decision and feel I must stick with it.

Art college work seems to have a distinct lack of humour to it. That isn't meant to imply that all work is serious, just that those works that have humour are few and far between. Also, I'm not talking about being slapstick, but I feel a little more tongue-in-cheek is in order.

That about does it for now...
